The opportunity of meeting of the scientists and technologists
working in the field of physics,
technology and application of porous and special glasses.
The Seminar
“Porous Glasses-Special Glasses” PGL’2018 is the eleventh
conference of this series and follows similar meetings which
were being held in the mountain resorts of Southern Poland.
The PGL Seminar is dedicated to novel
problems porous glasses and special glasses technology,
properties, characterization and application.
Porous glasses, materials known for decades
have in the last years again attracted extensive attention by
both Industry and Academy researches and are the subject of
intensive study. This is connected both with advances in
technology and the new challenging applications. Production of
glass with different structure parameters (pore size, surface
area, volume of pores) and impregnation of porous glasses with
different substances are the tools to obtain porous glasses with
desired properties. The goal of the PGL’2018 Seminar is to
discuss possibility of porous glass for application as materials
for different new types of sensors, memories, solar
concentrators.
The results of study of new special glasses:
fluoride, phosphate, tellurite, and borate glasses are also
within the scope of the Seminar. In particular, optical and
electrical properties of glasses doped with different compounds
(rare earth ions, metals) and their application will be
extensively discussed, new methods of investigations of glass
structure reviewed. These glasses exhibit interesting
spectroscopic properties and can find application in the fields
of laser, white LEDs, telecommunication technology and display
devices.
